365 Days of Change: We Carry Our World in Our Own Hands
DAY 1 – THOUGHTFULNESS (August 21, 2012)
This day in August holds great significance
for me. It is the day that Australian
hiker Kevin Kennedy disappeared in the Highwood area of Kananaskis in 2011, launching
one of the largest search efforts in local history. My search continues. For his family and friends, it is
a day of disappearance, confusion, unanswered questions, and no shortage of grief. It is a day that asks for change and
adjustment, but with the offering of gradual healing. On this day, I take a bouquet of flowers to
his wife, now a dear friend who has entrusted her thoughts and feelings with
me. It is a friendship forged out of the
most unusual of circumstances. We will always talk about Kevin, and we will strategize, but now we laugh, and talk about many
other things like aging parents and pet obedience classes. Life goes on.
I found this sphere-shaped rock in a stream in Highwood’s Paradise
Valley while searching. Its loud and clear
message is that we carry our world in our own hands. What we do in thought and intention affects not
only ourselves but resonates with all others.
Thoughts become things. What will
your influence be? Like attracts
like. What will you attract to yourself
by projecting to others? Be
thoughtful.
